@Alpha - I agree - for example many Georgians hate the Russians - having been at war with them within the last 5 years! But they have similar tastes.

I think the politics can definitely tip the balance, although perhaps not make the difference. I think Georgians like the Russian type of song, and vice versa, in spite of politics

Actually the voting is much less political than people say - I asked a bunch of Brit teenagers today and their 3 favourites were all in the top 6 - and they thought UK entry 'old'.
