I know you've written this like 2 years ago but I just wanted to say what an awesome job you've done...

Author's Response: Hey Mirkwood! I like your name. :) And it really doesn't matter how old a story is, reviews are always welcome! Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it very much.

Title: Faded Light: Book II by Elvenfixation
Rated: Explicit [ - ]
Summary: This is Book II of my LOTR series Faded Light. The story mostly takes place about a hundred years of so before the War of the Ring. There are two main settings in Books I and II, Mirkwood and Far Harad, where Legolas has been living as a slave courtesan for many years. Everyone in Mirkwood believes he was killed years ago when as a young warrior his patrol was ambushed and massacred by Men. He was taken south as a slave and sold to a cruel whoremaster. In Book I, he is mute as a result of everything he has gone through and becomes known to the Haradrim as Dafi, which means mute one. After a war in Harad, he and the daughter he has while a slave are bought by Javad, the King of Far Harad.

Meanwhile, in Mirkwood, Thranduil has been slowly fading out of grief over losing his son, but Elrond has managed to keep him alive.

And Legolas’ cousin, Leralonde, who is now Thranduil’s heir, has been having a secret affair with Saelbeth, one of the court advisors. He and Saelbeth have kept the relationship secret for years because they know Leralonde’s father, Ruthlagor, would react really (really) badly to knowing his son is in love with a male Elf.

Saelbeth gets pregnant much to his and Leralonde’s surprise. They know that if it is a boy, the child would be in line to the throne of Mirkwood, so they won’t be able to keep their secret much longer. But while traveling to Rivendell, Saelbeth’s escort falls into an Orc ambush. He survives, barely, and Leralonde rushes to Rivendell to be with him and their unborn child. (End of Book I.)

Book II picks up several years later, Legolas and his daughter, Mel, have been living under the protection of the Haradrim King, and Legolas has become the King’s favorite courtesan and been drawn into the intrigues of Menah, chief priest of Sauron’s temple in Far Harad.

Also, Legolas' adopted older brother, Feredir, who was mentioned several times in Book I is finally introduced here. He has been away from Mirkwood for years, looking for any trace of Legolas, which he has so far not found.

Those are the main points so far, so if you want to jump into the story from here, be my guest...

Hey you know what, forget lotr...change the names in this story and publish it as your own book ;)
It's perfect and the effect it has on the reader is just....oooof

Author's Response: Thank you Mirkwood...I've always had aspirations of publishing my own books and an unfinished fantasy trilogy I never seem to be able to get back to. It's high fantasy meets "I Claudius," meets epic Japanese period drama (which I grew up watching). Anyway, for now, I'm glad you're enjoying my little side hobby. Thanks for the r and r...

Your story hasn't left my mind since I read it...It's so powerful and disturbing ...please update faster!

Author's Response: Thank you. I'm always working on this story, but between my volunteer work, looking for a permanent, paying job, trying to get back to my own original novel (that I had abandoned for way too long), etc, it's sometimes hard to keep up. Anyway, I'll try not to let more than couple of weeks go by without updates.

I was beginning to fear that I would be forced to finish your fic with my own stupid imagination!!!! I'm really happy that you finally decided to update :-) it was great as always.
Please show some mercy and update faster...

Author's Response: Thank you. The next chapter is a two-parter so I might post both parts at once.

Aiii...I just can't wait to see Thranduil's reaction when he finally believes Legolas is alive...!!!

It was really nice to read a chapter from Thranduil's point of view, it's void place could be felt in the story and now that you have written this chapter it's much better I think...
I am personally looking forward to read more about the king since he's naturally the one who's suffering the most from the fate of his son, and I believe that you can turn out his steaming mass of emotions to a masterpiece with your unique pen if you put some effort on that part...but it's only my personal opinion ;-) the story is yours and it's already fantastic.
This chapter was great as the rest of them and I can't wait for more... :)

Author's Response: Hi, Mirkwood, thank you for your lovely review. I've definitely really wanted more Thranduil in this story, I've just had a hard time getting in his head. (Actually though, I've been playing around with a story about his early relationship with Thalielwen (his eventual Queen) near the end of the Second Age. And Oropher is in that one too. If it goes in a good direction, I might eventually post it.) Anyway, there are a few more Thranduil chapters coming. And I just posted the next one. Thanks again for the r and r...

“I don’t want to give that scheming father of mine the satisfaction.” :)) I loved it!!! It's as if I can feel his frustration...
I love the titles you choose. I also find all of your writings very very affective and that's a true talent.
this story is great as always...honestly I sometimes find myself envying you!!!!
Thanks for sharing :)

Author's Response: Aw thank you! I know the feeling of envying other authors; I guess it's just part of being human. :) But I truly appreciate your kind words. This story was a lot of fun to write, and I do try to pick good titles for my stories and for the chapters, so thanks for picking up on that. Cheers and have a great day!

Hi there,
I just wanted to say this is a great story. It's very well written; you've nice and detailed description where you should and yet you've not stretched the story in places not necessary, so it is not at all boring.
I'm really interested to see where this is going to lead to...and I'm dying to see some romance start between Thranduil and Adlanniel, though I would feel sorry for Legolas.
Please don't stop writing and keep up to good work and update fast :D

Author's Response: THANK YOU for the comment! I am really appreciative that you took the time to review and I am really glad that you are enjoying my story! :) The romance will begin between Thranduil and Adlanniel soon...not too soon as I need to build up to it....but it will be soon....though I too, feel sorry for Legolas, even now >.< Oh well, guess you can't have your cake and eat it too right? I am about to post an update, so please keep reading and commenting! Thanks again!

Hey there, I received an email from you and it reminded me that I'd forgotten to submit a comment on your last chapter. However I read it just the day you posted it. I even realised you posted on Archive of our own as well :)
I didn't wish to bore you with my comments but do not ever think that I didn't read. I read and the chapter was quite surprising for me. I did not expect this violence but it is always nice to be surprised while you read.
Sorry if I didn't review sooner.
It reminds me, can you tell me how you managed to send me that email?! I believe I should remind one of my own readers about my update :D

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Mirkwood! Really happy you liked reading it ^_^ And thanks for taking the time to review!

Interesting chepter indeed, and a very promissing one...
I recieved 2 emails about updates and I was very excited because I thought that you've probably updated 2 chapters but then I saw one of them was empty!!! :(
Still this chapter was exciting and made up to my disapointment. I wished that you could update faster so I wouldn't have to wait so long.
Good chapter and keep up to great work :)

Author's Response: My mistake . . . I posted the same chapter twice (ooops) so it looked like there was three chapters, but in reality there was only two! At least this one is longer than the first ^_^ I'm super psyched that you're still reading it though *happy dance* I also didn't realise it was *that* long since I last uploaded. Double oops. I promise to be quicker next time! Thanks so much for reading :-)
