Title: A Light In The East by Spiced Wine
Rated: Mature [ - ]
Summary:

A crossover gift-story between Esteliel's Ethuil'waew and my Dark Prince verse.

What would have happened had Legolas not been able to flee to Imladris and Glorfindel when he found he was pregnant? What if he fell into entirely different hands?
~~~
After the Last Alliance, Vanimórë, freed for a time from Sauron's control, made himself the ruler of a Sud Sicanna, a wealthy city in the Harad. Five hundred years later, he journeys to Szrel Kain on the Sea of Rhun where rulers of the East are meeting to discuss renewing their attacks upon Gondor. Vanimórë goes to gather information, to keep his finger on the pulse of events.
~~~
Legolas, banished from his home, wanders into the hands of a clan traveling back to Rhun after a summer of trading. The Men, afraid he will bring ill-luck on them, mean to sell him, and in lands where the Dark Gods are worshiped Legolas' uniqueness would mean sacrifice, the death of both himself and the child he bears: Glorfindel's son.
~~~
He falls instead into the hands of the Dark Prince, the son of Sauron, who understands neglect and abuse only too well...
~~~
Glorfindel felt anguish as deep as a crack in the world in Vanimórë's soul.

“I know how Legolas feels better than thou canst imagine. Thou didst name me Vanimórë. That is my name in truth. Thou hast penetrating sight, or did. Vanimórë Gorthaurion. The son of Sauron holds and will protect Legolas Thranduilion and
thy son. Is that not wonderfully ironic, Glorfindel?”

Rereading this again. Gosh I love this story. A question though. What does Elvyr mean? *curious*

Author's Response: Hiya Urloth. Thank-you for reading again. I've not forgotten this story :)
Esteliel created Elvyr, and I believe it means 'star follower'. :)

AAAhhhhh gosh this fic makes me so happy each times it updates. *sits with chin in hands and rereads*

Stunning as usual and the raw emotion you capture is so intense. Its nice to see Thranduil (start to) pull his big girl panties on and get with the program (though he has a long way to go. If he goes that far.) Also Vanimore, how I adore Vanimore.

Author's Response: Thank-you so much, Urloth. I am glad the raw emotions reads as I hoped I was writing it. Also thank-you for your comment about Vanimórë; I am glad that he's still interesting after four or five years.

Oh gosh *chews nails down to the quick* edge of the seat ending! And yay, Legolas! Is that a back-bone I see? (not that you're spineless darling but you've certainly been the soccer ball in the game of life till recently)

Author's Response: He has been a soccer ball, poor thing. (He's only young; about 16 in Mortal years) but without realizing it, he is growing.
Thank-you, Urloth, for the comment. I appreciate it. Hugs! Sorry you've had a bad time.

gosh I hadn't realised he was quite so young. *hugs him even more*  Thank you for your compassion :) it was nice to come home and loose myself the Faery archive for a few hours. Seeing that you'd updated made me especially glad :)

Author's Response: Well, when Esteliel was writing Legolas, she worked out he was 40, and Elves are counted adults at 50, which I imagine is like 18 in Mortal years, at least that is how I am looking at it, so Legolas is roughly 16 in this, which is very young to have a child, and have to deal with all he has.

I know exactly what you mean about losing yourself in reading and perhaps writing after something traumatic. Hugs. Take care of yourself, and thank-you for the comment.

oh godamn. D: ghosts and giant spiders and please tell me Bainalph wont die? (fantastic as usual!!!)

Author's Response: Oh dear, Urloth. :( I am sorry, but Bainalph is dead. I may have to edit that a bit if it is not clear. Shelob does not eat dead meat, as we're told in LoTR. Bainalph allowed himself to be stung (as Frodo was) and when he woke, managed to stay alive long enough to engage Shelob's attentions so that the others could find their way out without having to fight every step. From Vanimórë's words he feared - rightly - that if he killed himself when he was blinded, Shelob would just ignore his body, so he allowed her to sting him. I am sorry, it's upsetting and horrible for me to imagine, which was why I did not go into detail. (Thank-you for reading!)

Vanimórë met those eyes. Melkor's night-black hair wove into the Void, the darkness that lay beyond light, the energy that none could measure. It spread across stars and planets, a weight and force incomprehensible in its power. A terrible awe gripped Vanimórë's heart.

I love slightly eldritch descriptions of Valar and this was so terrifyingly beautiful. This is definitely the Melkor I could imagine throwing himself into the void to chase the eternal flame, and defying Eru. A proper inhuman awfully beautiful demi-god.

And then light detonated in the void, the wrath of stars. They ringed the figure of Melkor, burning, burning. Vanimórë thought he saw bright mail, crowned helms, shimmering hair, eyes like the heart of an inferno, challenging, defiant

*claps hands together in glee* There they are! I love it. Every hint of them. The way you write them so magnificently.

And then Maglor went and broke my heart. Jhendir is intriguing. Will he be playing a larger part? I hope for his sake he does not wind up being sacrificed.

Author's Response: This is definitely the Melkor I could imagine throwing himself into the void to chase the eternal flame, and defying Eru. A proper inhuman awfully beautiful demi-god.

Thank you, Urloth, and I think that even Vanimórë was surprised because this isn't the same Melkor he knew when he was young.

*claps hands together in glee* There they are! I love it. Every hint of them. The way you write them so magnificently.

Thank you! I just break my own heart knowing they're in the Void and not out of it (yet). :(

And then Maglor went and broke my heart

Maglor always breaks my heart :( As for Jhendir, it may not be so much what he does as the fact that getting involved with his story unmasked the Elves. Although he may have a longer game to play that might not be apparent for a while.
Thank you so much, Urloth :)

Title: ~ Magnificat of the Damned. Book III. Fire ~ by Spiced Wine
Rated: Mature [ - ]
Summary:

They had been damned for their pride.
Damned for their passions.
Damned by the Valar and by Morgoth Bauglir.
Hated and envied by both.

~~~
Reborn into an older world and freedom, they had discovered that the jealousy of Gods does not fade, and that damnation has an agelong reach.
~~~

In dark Angmar, the Mouth of Sauron feeds his ambitions with unspeakable acts. Coldagnir the Balrog begins to learn what freedom is, whilst in New Cuiviénen the Noldor battle with their own pride and passions.

~~~
Every inner eye in the encampment was bent on the drama unfolding to the south, but Fëanor's mind seemed to focus all of them like a lens. There was no sound. This was the center. Fëanor's eyes were blank and blazing with impossible, unearthly light.
~~~

Oh my I enjoyed this. I enjoyed this alot. Woodelves/Mirkwood/Greenwood = love for me. I have been reading your series for the past few weeks. Your writing is amazing and your stories grip me even when I sit squirming, knowing that there isn't going to be quite so happy a ending, something I usually turn away from fiction when I suspect. Thanks for writing this! It helped me pass through my 2am insomnia nicely!

Author's Response: Oh, so sorry you have insomnia, but thank-you for reading and commenting, Urloth :)
knowing that there isn't going to be quite so happy a ending, something I usually turn away from fiction when I suspect.
Lol. I would say now that I don't write *endings,* as such, or I leave them as ambiguous, because the series is not finished, therefore anything can happen. :)
I am really pleased that you like these wood-Elves, as I have not long started thinking about them and their culture (only since writing A Light in the East, really).
Thank-you for your so-kind words. :) I am thrilled you enjoy the writing.

Oh those two houses *fans herself with her hands* having issues has never been so sexy. *Fans herself more*

Also I can't wait to hear what Beleg has to say, talk about a clifhanger.

Sian I've been meaning to ask, what happened to Miriel when everybody was released from Mandos? Is she still in there?

Author's Response: Thank-you Urloth. :) Having issues has never been so sexy, LOL *g*.

Beleg will talk to Vanimórë shortly, and Van will see this ancient mystery concerning the orcs.

About Miriel -- there's something there that's knocking at the corner of my mind. It's not ready to come out yet, but it will concern Miriel's fate. I don't like what happened to Miriel in canon, that she was not permitted rebirth and was supposed to remain with Vairë, but there's still something nagging at me. I think it'll be in Weapons of the Gods, which is why it's never been addressed before now.

Thank-you for your review :)

Wonderful to hear :D I did wonder if perhaps the woman capable of producing a child like Feanor might have run afoul of your version of the Vala. *waves her Miriel fan flag and goes back to her hidey-hole*

Author's Response: I did wonder if perhaps the woman capable of producing a child like Feanor might have run afoul of your version of the Vala.

I think in canon she did, not being reborn, but I have this tickly feeling in the back of my mind that it's definitely not the case in this 'verse.

I wish I could be more eloquent about it but  I see you have some wonderful reviews far more eloquent then I can be. It's just.. ouch, poor Maeglin, he still did incredibly horrible things but he's just so broken and hurt and trying to put it all together. And Bainalph's struggles. Gosh. And Tindomion being every inch of a Feanorion.

Author's Response: I love all reviews. I am so chuffed that people take the time!
poor Maeglin, he still did incredibly horrible things but he's just so broken and hurt and trying to put it all together.

I think most of the Noldor are broken in some way, but even Fëanor didn't think he was doing anything wrong, at least he did what he believed in (apart from abandoning Fingolfin which does eat at him, beneath his insouciance) but Maeglin did something he knew to be unforgivable, and that hurts me. Hell, all the Noldor hurt me.

Oh my gosh, as usual Maeglin breaks my heart, gosh I love his character here. And Tindomion too.

I was not expecting the twist with Edenel, it sent shivers up my spine the way you described him and his tribes creation and how that links into Vanimore.

I have been left with a slight worry though, I do use a tribe with a similar background to the Gwaith-en-Ithilvorn in my fics. I don't want you to think I copied them. Sorry for bringing this up :C

As usuall I almost leapt for joy when I saw you had updated and I was not let down. I love your writing very much and enjoyed this chapter. Looking forward to the next one :D

Author's Response: Oh my gosh, as usual Maeglin breaks my heart, gosh I love his character here. And Tindomion too.

I am so pleased (:

I was not expecting the twist with Edenel, it sent shivers up my spine the way you described him and his tribes creation and how that links into Vanimore.

I realized when I introduced Coldagnir, that Van's memories are very much Angband-centric, but Coldagnir, of course, knew Utumno. That gave me an idea which I am now exploring with Edenel and his tribe.

I have been left with a slight worry though, I do use a tribe with a similar background to the Gwaith-en-Ithilvorn in my fics. I don't want you to think I copied them. Sorry for bringing this up :C

Because no-one else in the entire world can come up with a new tribe of Elves, right d;-) I already know how inventive your writing is, Urloth. I cannot imagine you copying any-one. I look forward to reading about your tribe!
Thank-you so much for your comments.

Oh this chapter!!! *dances around manically*

First of all I've been waiting to see how the impact of Celegorm and Finrod being bound together is playing out. Finrod's games are no surprise :D

And about how everyone had been so sure that Fingolfin could reign Feanor in... ouch!!

And I utterly enjoyed reading more about the Ithiledhil and most of all Edenel. I am all for Finwe having brother/s. And that makes it twice as tragic, to have returned from Morgoth and lost his twin to the whims of other Valar.

*scrolls back up and rereads*

Author's Response: First of all I've been waiting to see how the impact of Celegorm and Finrod being bound together is playing out. Finrod's games are no surprise :D

Not quite as Celegorm imagined, which is why he needed to talk to Fëanor. They'll get there, though - in time!

And about how everyone had been so sure that Fingolfin could reign Feanor in... ouch!!

Yes, no-one could have at that point, which is why it is the only thing Celegorm now fears, with good reason.

And I utterly enjoyed reading more about the Ithiledhil and most of all Edenel. I am all for Finwe having brother/s. And that makes it twice as tragic, to have returned from Morgoth and lost his twin to the whims of other Valar.

Well, I suppose they must reunite one day, although probably not until the next book, but Edenel now knows he has a veritable host of relations, so we will see what he will do about that.

Thank-you so much for reading and reviewing, Urloth. :)

AAAAAaaaaaAAA hhhhh ; ; Elernil and Finwe and oh my gosh.

Brothers.

Brothers reuniting <3.

~Close~ brothers possibly reuniting and all the back story and how much hurt there is, the separation and I can't imagine the pain of Finwe never knowing just what had happened but sure his twin was dead, or the pain of Elernil and his people, never coming close to their own

Right through the heart.

Ingwe you are redeeming yourself :D and wow I thought I couldn't dislike the Valar more in this fic. I have been proven wrong yet again.

Author's Response: brothers possibly reuniting and all the back story and how much hurt there is, the separation and I can't imagine the pain of Finwe never knowing just what had happened but sure his twin was dead, or the pain of Elernil and his people, never coming close to their own

Every-one has a story, and in true Silmarillion fashion, usually they are tragic, but at least now there is a chance of reunion. :)

I rather like Ingwë, who was the most stifled of all the Elves that lived in Valinor. He deserves a shot at real life too, or rather the life he had before Valinor.

I had to find a story for Finwë. (For this 'verse, I mean). He seemed so overshadowed by his sons, and yet he was High King of the Noldor, and he faced Melkor when others could not. So, this back-story fell into my head. I am so pleased you read and reviewed, thank-you!

mmmff on a reread I just noticed Finwe's eyes and mmmmm dark eye'd Finwe and Tyelkormo ~_~ (I know it's different from my own (sorry). But dark eyed men in general. Especially the imagery of black pearls <3 )

Author's Response: I had no idea what colour eyes I imagined Finwë had until I was writing it. But I also love the look and luster of black pearls, and celegorm's eyes are not like any of his brothers, so I decided he'd inherited them from some-one :)

Oh. I am so glad I decided to check back before reading the next chapter. I didn't expect Tuor and Idril to reappear! And as possible servants of the valar/devil's advocates there to shred things to pieces?

I am really enjoying the whole twisted mess about Maeglin and how everything isn't *hand wave* alright despite how he has been forgiven for his sins and actions (understandably all that)

I really love your writing, its so wonderfully strong and so good at maintaining multiple threads of thought and action all through it. Now onto the next chapter.

And Finrod/Celegorm *skips*

Author's Response: I didn't expect Tuor and Idril to reappear! And as possible servants of the valar/devil's advocates there to shred things to pieces?

Tuor may have been sent to kill Maeglin - we don't know yet, but in any event, he's been in Ilmarin since he went to Valinor, almost like limbo, and been brainwashed. Idril I don't know so much, but she is obviously on the anti-Maeglin side since he did try to kill her son.

The Maeglin storyline is complicated, because everything is conspiring to tempt him to commit the same crime, and he does not want to. But he had almost settled a little in Imladris, and soon that is going to be shattered.
Thank-you so much, Urloth.
