It's hard to believe that I haven't read this for a while. What a joy to rediscover it on Faerie. I love this story - the understanding of Haldir that humiliation is the key to the wood elf, and the desire of Legolas for his Lord, despite the fact that his quest pulls him away from him, farther each day. Lovely.

What a pleasure to see another chapter in this, Spiced. So, the players in our little drama are coming together, this time in RL, as opposed to the one crack in the cosmos from their interaction with the fell wolves. As always I love the depiction and the love that you have for your characters. The love and sympathy come through in your writing and color it in tints of warm amber and scarlet hues like sunsets. I look forward to the next episode.

- Erulisse (one L)

Author's Response:

Thank-you, Erulisse {Hugs!}

I think we have to love the characters we write of, if we are going to spend much time with them, otherwise writing would be a penance, not a pleasure. There is indeed some 'quantum' stuff happening in this story, which will be explored further as the story progresses. Thank-you so much for reviewing :)

Title: ~ Magnificat of the Damned. Book III. Fire ~ by Spiced Wine
Rated: Mature [ - ]
Summary:

They had been damned for their pride.
Damned for their passions.
Damned by the Valar and by Morgoth Bauglir.
Hated and envied by both.

~~~
Reborn into an older world and freedom, they had discovered that the jealousy of Gods does not fade, and that damnation has an agelong reach.
~~~

In dark Angmar, the Mouth of Sauron feeds his ambitions with unspeakable acts. Coldagnir the Balrog begins to learn what freedom is, whilst in New Cuiviénen the Noldor battle with their own pride and passions.

~~~
Every inner eye in the encampment was bent on the drama unfolding to the south, but Fëanor's mind seemed to focus all of them like a lens. There was no sound. This was the center. Fëanor's eyes were blank and blazing with impossible, unearthly light.
~~~

What a lovely triad you have made here, and what a difficult task you have laid before them; to be witness and to have no ability to interfere or intervene. As always, I am speechless at your skill.

- Erulisse (one L)

Author's Response:

I love this triad, thank-you.

Fëanor and Fingolfin do have experience of this, which may be why Dana allowed them to see what she sees -- they were in the Void and made to see the deaths of those they loved over and over, by Melkor. And still, it must be almost unbearable. Thank-ou for your review! :)

It's always a joy to have another chapter of Magnificat. Lion is truly beautiful in your vision. And so far all of the major characters are still living, even though that had been in doubt. So bravo. Things are progressing well and, as always, I look forward to the next chapter.

- Erulisse (one L)

Author's Response: And so far all of the major characters are still living, even though that had been in doubt.
I am not G.R.R Martin, lol! XD The fact is, the Mouth did keep back the majority of his most loyal soldiers who were of Durthang in Mordor, sending out about a third of them. I didn't spell that out, but it seemed to me that he would ensure that there were some to protect him if any-one decided to search for him in the fortress. The Elves (and the fact that the Eastern men and the Uruk-hai fought with them, and the orcs were blinded) could therefore get out without damage. As Carn Dum's power grows, it will become a greater threat.
Thank-you so much for commenting, Erulisse,

I know I reviewed this in the past, but not on Faerie. It seems totally wrong to say how much I loved this story when the pain of Legolas is prominent and tears are in my eyes, but there it is. I love this story. I love the hope at the end, the love of Gilroin, and the acknowledgement of Elrond and Erestor that the actions they had condoned by inaction and blind eyes were unworthy of them. I love Erestor's actions of paying for the stories and opening the doors to the garden for Legolas. There was so much to love in this story, pain, neglect and subjugation notwithstanding.

- Erulisse (one L)

Author's Response: This is probably the saddest story I have written, so I'm pleased that you found things to love in it, especially when so much of it is very dark and tragic. Thank you so much for your review. ((hugs))

I haven't heard of you as an author before, but I added you to my favorites and I'm going to look at other things that you have posted and will post. This short story is honed to a fine edge. The visual pictures of Lindir in the rainstorm in Gondolin, and again celebrating the rainstorm in Imladris is absolutely perfect. The characterization of Erestor as controlled, except in this one instance as personified by this one person is totally evocative of why he is so valued, and yet now you have given his life meaning. I loved it.

- Erulisse (one L)

Author's Response:

Oh thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and I'm flattered that you added me to your favourites.

Funny with just the right amount of hot. And the idea that Erestor would have the setee chopped up for firewood...yes, I could see that :-)

Author's Response:

Thanks, Erulisse - I"m glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I think it's a good thing Erestor is unaware what Elrohir and Legolas got up to on that couch!

Thanks for reviewing :)
