How do I submit stories?
If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you've logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story. The form presented there will allow you to submit your story.
What are the ratings used on the site?
This site offers four ratings: General Audiences (safe for everyone to read), Teen (inappropriate for audiences under 13), Mature (content with adult themes like sex and violence) and Explicit (porn or graphic violence). The distinction between Mature and Explicit is up to the author; generally, I think that stories that feature plot and characterization alongside explicit sex qualify for a Mature rating.
What are the story classifications?
Stories are classified by categories and content.
What are Recommendations?
If you would like to recommend your favorite stories that do not need to be stored on this site to the other visitors of this archive, you can now do so with the Recommendation function. Go to Account Info >> Manage Recommendations >> Add a Recommendation. You can browse the Recommendations of other users by clicking "Recommendations" in the top menu. You can see a particular user's recommendations by going to their profile and choosing "Recommendations by [username]".
Can I be notified if someone comments on my stories?
First, go to "Account Info", then choose "Edit Preferences". Here, tick the boxes for "Contact for new reviews" and "Contact when author responds to review". Don't forget to hit "Submit" afterward.
Can I be notified if one of my favorite authors updates?
There are two steps to make this work. First, go to "Account Info", then choose "Edit Preferences". Here, tick the boxes for "Contact when favorites are updated". Don't forget to hit "Submit" afterward. Then, go to your favorite author's profile. Below the stories' summaries, you will find the options "Add Story to Favorites" and "Add Author to Favorites". Click "Add Author to Favorites" and will get a notification email every time your favorite author posts a new story. But this works only for new stories - in order to get notification emails for new chapters, you now need to click "Add Story to Favorites" for every story for which you want to get update notifications.
What is the tracking function?
The tracking function can also be used to keep track of the stories in progress you are following. In order to track a story, you need to open the story and scroll to the bottom. There, you can click on "Options" and choose "Track this Story" from the list. Do this for every WIP you want to follow. Now, you can click "Browse" in the top menu and there choose "Tracked Stories". You will see a list of all the WIPs you are tracking in the order they were last updated.
I'm not getting comments/notifications/reviews in my email!
Unfortunately, emails from the archive often seem to end up in the spam folder. If you are missing notifications, look into your spam folder; if you find the missing emails there, see if your email provider has an option that allows you to choose the mail and click "do not treat as spam" or something similar, which should ensure that future mails from the archive will be delivered straight to your inbox. If you cannot find the mails even in your spam folder, try to add "faerie@gmx.de" to your whitelist, so that your email provider will know that you want to get mails from the archive.
