when they'd done nothing wrong. I don't see how any-one would actually choose to be unemployed. It is a poverty trap!

Rant away. There is a very hard attitude in the Job Centre. I am extremely polite and very quiet, and nonetheless I was treated brusquely, and rather like a child called in to see a headmaster

Rant on 'Fin. You are absolutely right.

Any one of those people who think the unemployed are feckless losers could be unemployed themselves tomorrow, yet they don't seem to realise that. There I go ranting in the shoutbox! lol

Cont - often for no reason at all or to save money,, and because discrimination is alive and flourishing in this country.

Sian - I believe that people should put themselves in the shoes of others. I have noticed that there is a hardening of attitude against the unemployed, yet people so easily lose their jobs - cont

The journey to Oxford from where I live would have been five hours with three changes, according Trainline, but I would have still gone if I could.

I was lucky that I only had to come from Swindon to Oxford (45 minutes down the road).

all the time. But when you go through agencies it tells you how many applicants have applied, and with 60 + it's very unlikely I would even get an interview.

I would rather be self-employed, too. I am just off to a Job Centre interview. It is so horrid; the attitude seems to be that we're all losers and don't even try. I have been applying for jobs

After a Lifetime by December Rated: Explicit [Reviews - 0]
Summary: When it all began, you simply took a blind dive into the unknown. But would have you offered your love to the one you worship, had you known the price he would have to pay for loving you back? Would you trust yourself to know between right and wrong? If you could see the hopeless end of your journey, would you still take the road? And when all was over, would you be blind to see a new road lying at your feet? Would you dare follow it? Would you, Faramir?

Recommender's comments: I really appreciate the way December consider the complexities of emotion inherent in an incestuous relationship. It's not something I see very often, and when it is written, people seem to overlook the emotional coils and prohibitions of such an attraction, when that is actually what they should focus on the most. It's really well done in this story.

The sex is revelatory and savage and beautiful, and the two brothers -- well, they go a long way to making me forget how they were in the films. This is Boromir and Faramir from the books.

Summary: In the forest of Mirkwood, alliances are made, played out, and broken. But not only among elves…and life is proven more important than evil, even for creatures of darkness.

A Dawn of Many Colors by Pink Siamese Rated: Mature [Reviews - 0]
Summary:
A thirtysomething college student goes into the woods for a little R&R and ends up in Middle-earth...or in one version of it, anyway. She falls in with the Fellowship long enough to learn some basic survival skills before stepping through a mysterious interdimensional door. She finds herself in yet another version of Middle-earth, only this one is a lot different than anything Tolkien ever wrote about. This is a work in progress

Recommended by: Spiced Wine
Recommender's comments:

The best of the best of any story involving a woman from our world traveling to Middle-earth, but with Mordor very different to what we believe, a female Mouth of Sauron, and other incredible mysteries, it is far more than that.
